What do you know about the pill and blood clots, or fibroids?

I found a funky vein in the top of my leg yesterday. I went immediately to the doctor. He's not concerned with clots. He's sending me for a pelvic ultrasound to be certain there are no firbous tumors resting on the vein.

Here I've been all excited about being on the pill because I feel so great during perimenopause. I'll scream if I found out this pill is harming me. [Eek!]

"taking birth control pills increases the risk of heart attack, stroke, and blood clots in certain women. Serious side effects such as these are more likely in women over 35 years of age who smoke cigarettes and in those with specific health problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or a history of breast or uterine cancer."
