jj,
I've had 2 of those horrible tests. Prep is worse than the
actual undertaking. But I hate, hate, hate those things.
Behindular BS! Dave Barry is a funnnnnny duddddddde...
I wanted to laugh, but my mind couldn't get passed the painful prep....

This was over the top funny! Thanks Queen JJ for sharing it. I've had 4 colonoscopies & 3 endoscopies. I must admit, I'm obsessed with knowing my body from a health standpoint. Wide awake during all proceedures i found it so interesting. I actually asked that the screen be placed in Full comfortable view for my curious entertainment. WOW what a trip! My last colonoscopy was the best, it was in Living Color!!! Kinda reminded me of those sycadelic swirrelys from the 60's. LOL OK So maybe I was a little dopey? Ladies, if you've not had one do not fear them, it's really painless. And educational.

Same here. I've had them as well...and the prep IS the worst part. I remember when my sweet Daddy was alive and he had to "prepare" for one. They gave him some stuff to drink called "Go Lightly." Daddy said they should rename it "Go Quickly." God luv him!

jj, Got your sense of humor from daddy, hey.
Love it. My dad was gentle, warm, and loving too. Those colon tests are easy, yes. Can't say as I'd want to be awake and watch it, though, like Qball. I was awake for the birth of my son. That was enough! No need to see what my colon looks like, thank you. Glad Qball enjoyed herself, though! LOL...

jabber, you are so brave. I can't believe you were awake and watching during your colonoscopy. I was totally out of it. Anyone else awake? I don't think they offer that here.

Re: Colonoscopy - the Real scoop - 02/27/08 02:29 PM

Dotsie,
Q-ball watched the colon test. I watched the birth of my son. I don't know if they let you watch the colon test here or not but I'm not about to ask. Hopefully, I won't need another one of those things ever again. I think lots of women watch their children's birth. I heard others remark along those lines. The link jj posted, is funny. I just have an acute aversion to colonoscopies, "real scoop" or not!

Sedated then awake during procedure.I have regular screening .All variations from bliss to chatty..then being mellow...afterwards.I think the drugs used to sedate are helpful
But have watched the screen.

Jabber & Dotsie,
Hopeully, you'll never need a chance to ask to view your colonoscopy. I did have to ASK, it certainly wasn't an offered option, except for the last one. I watched my c-sections too. 1st one I had them take down that sheet in front of me. 2nd one I had an aid hold a mirror. Must admit sleeping quite soundly through a pin, plate and 9 screws in my ankle and 5 yrs later a liver transplant. LOL took about 27 hours to wake up from the L.T. & about 10 minutes to get the breathing tube out!! I wanted to TALK! They gave me a pen & paper?? It's so difficult to explain on paper just how upset you're getting cause you can't talk. I don't have any goofy goory illness to see sicko crud. I'm just very curious.
Happy Health All, this next week is another super busy one for me. Catch up asap. QB

Oh. My. Goodness. I have laughed my head off. Just had mine this morning. The prep stuff wasn't delish, but it wasn't horrific either. Mine came in a bottle that I mixed with water. I got it really cold and downed it. My advice - once you start, don't stop.

The part about the seatbelt on the toilet really cracked me up. I met Dave Barry a few years back after he spoke at the Erma Bombeck Writers' Conference. Love his sense of humor.

Thanks for sharing that link!
