"Jesus" ousted from school in Paramus NJ - 11/02/08 03:28 PM

I wasn't sure if I should put this article in the Current Events section or the Religion section.....This story tells me all I need to know about why some of our younger citizens are turning out the way they are. Shame on the school officials and those who were "offended" by the costume.

I don't know, Jose, to me Jesus and Halloween don't mix... that may not be why they sent him home, but it could be... someone might have felt the same as I.

I find fake knives in children’s heads with fake blood dripping out of the wounds terrible. What happened to the princess and cowboy costumes? I think the need to shock has gone over board, and that is what that boy was trying to do, shock others.

A Jesus costume does not belong or fit into Halloween tradition. I agree with the school authorities for sending the boy home.

This is exactly why I don't celebrate Halloween - I am a devout follower of Jesus Christ and any holiday where the holiday and Jesus don't mix is not one I want to celebrate...

I agree that if Jesus or any religious figure were made fun of on Halloween, I'd have a problem with it too. But some children are dressed as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Davy Crockett, John Wayne, etc....to honor those figures, not to make fun of them.

If kids want to be cartoon characters or monsters, I'm cool with that too. I just feel this particular Catholic mom and Jewish dad were supporting their son's choice of a costume, while others possibly diminished the son's choice. At least that's what I was feeling when I read the article.

For some of us, Halloween is a time to pretend and make merry. For others, it is the Eve of All Souls Day, where we honor the souls of the dearly departed. I support both and did not mean to offend anyone. I don't think this young boy did either.

OMG...What were his parents thinking to allow such blantant bashing of the Christian faith? Children learn racism and bigotry from their parents and these parents are to be pitied to have raised a shadow of themselves...

The worst thing here is that these sicko kids will someday be this nations rulers...I'm glad I'll be dead.
