MOre and more people losing their homes are choosing to give up their pets, but do they gtake their faithful, beloved pet to a shelter? Nope, they leave them in a locked house with some food and water, some don't even do that. Not only are the animals traumatized wondering where their people are and why they are left alone, scared, hungry. I would no longer leave an animal locked in a house to fend for itself than I'd leave a child. People ask "what can I do?" If you notice a house that looks empty for a few days or so, knock on the doors, look in the window and see if any animal appears, if yes, than call 911. You could save an animal some horrible suffering...

Chatty,
That is a good suggestion. Next time I see an empty house,
I'll check it out!

We have had several pets turned in to us where either a real estate agent or an apartment manager has found them in a vacant home. But we also have a lot of pets whose owners at least turned them into us because they are having to move into a place that doesn't allow pets. The ones that really break my heart are the beloved family pets turned in because the owner is being deployed overseas or the owner died and the family can't or won't take care of them.

God bless the animals of the world!

I come back and change these posts because I don't like them after a while. Any of you feel that way? Or is it just me?

Do you think any zoo animals are mistreated? Now and again
there's a report of an animal in captivity, turning on a
zookeeper or trainer.

Good suggestion, Chatty! And one I'd never thought of, so thanks for bringing it up!

Chatty,
Ellen Degeneres had a man on her show one day, who saved a dog that was abandoned at the bottom of a rock formation in the desert. The hiker took the nearly dead dog food and water, rescued it, and then kept it. The dog looked like a wonderful pet. The man was given $15,000.00 in reward money for being so kind. I can't imagine anyone leaving a dog to die at the bottom of a dry hole. Have seen more than my share of cruel, heartless people lately. But thank God, I try to focus on the good folks! mad

We get in animals like that on a regular basis thanks to good samaritans who rescue them from horrible situations. You wouldn't believe the condition some of these animals are in when they arrive at the shelter - it makes me mad and sad at the same time. Some we keep at the shelter and some are placed in foster homes. In spite of what these animals have gone through, they are still loving and wonderful pets.

yonuh,
What you experience regularly, is why I could never work in
a vet's office. I'd want to take all the mistreated animals
home. And that would be unacceptable. I know what you mean about
animals being so loyal and sweet and faithful. I love animals!
