We put up our tree today and need to wrap gifts . Not sure what got into my mother on year she said all this for one day . I thought of that today . We were tired from putting the tree up and have baking to do , but I love christmas and love to bake for the holidays . It is tiring ,but for one day it is fun. Don't you think . The gatheing of friends and parties . Only thing is I hate to take the tree down and pack everything up for the next year and try to remember where you put some thngs.

I still just try to incorporate my Christmas decorations with my regular decor, it is so much simpler than when we took everything away and stored them replacing them with decorations, ugh! What a huge hassle that was but not this year and the house looks just as festive and nice...so much less stress all around.

I do that with my Snow Babies now, Chatty. I keep them in my big china cabinet all year round on display. I don't have to wrap them all up and store them in the closet and climb up to get them.

We're taking our tree down today, chopping it up , and throwing it away. 3 very bad cats completely demolished the poor tree. And Christmas is still 2 weeks away..... [Frown]

I was worried that the dogs would eat some ornaments, but they have been good so far. Last year my son and family were living with me while they were between houses (2 boxers too) and the dogs encouraged each other to be bad - there were a few ornaments destroyed.

I have the urge to bake cookies, but if I do, I eat them for breakfast lunch and dinner. It's just too dangerous. I think I'll wait until it's closer to Christmas, then bake and give away.

madness, oh my gracious. Will you get another one? Did you have the cats last year? What makes this year different?

Our tree crashed to the ground breaking several favorite ornaments a couple years ago. It was so sad. Everyone was in other rooms and we heard this huge crash. It was awful. We felt like chopping it up and throwing it away, but we practiced self-control and put the dang thing back up.

While we were busy rehanging lights and cleaning up broken ornaments our son took all the pieces of my husband's ornament from the year he was born and glued it all back together without our knowing. When things calmed down he presented it to him. That is nowone of my favorite Christmas memories.

My grandbeauty has already eaten several ornaments so when I babysit her, I have to watch her like a hawk to make sure she doesn't try and take a bite out of one of them. My DIL told me the other day as she was going out the door to just put any ornaments that Lea pulls off the tree in the basket on top of the microwave. When I looked over there, it was nearly full. They're tree looked naked.

When she got home I said, "what are you going to do about her taking them off and trying to eat them?" She said wisely, "nothing. At the end of each day, I redecorate the tree. We enjoy it actually and she helps. We figure sooner or later she will quit. We tell her no, and even pat her behind, and she HAS seemed to lost interest a little." I have to laugh....

About 20 years ago I had a beloved pooch who thought our tree was an outdoor bush. Ugh!

Well you can guess what he use to do to that tree!
