"One of the easiest human acts is also the most healing. Listening to someone. Simply listening. Not advising or coaching, but silently and
fully listening."

Margaret Wheatley, Turning to One Another

Thought this was perfect for our forums. This is one plce where we have to listen before we speak. Kinda cool, huh? [Big Grin] [Wink]

This is KEY, Dotsie, to successful relationships of every kind.

Listen without preparing your next response - if you don't, you'll miss the essence of the speaker's message.

Thank you for reminding us.

what? okay..okay. I can honestly say that I have trained myself to listen to others because I would get sooo excited when talking about subjects I love that my mouth would overload my brain and go forward...just ask Dotsie.

Listening to others not only gives you the message, but to me and more importantly, it shows the other person(s) that you care, that what they have to say IS important.

Sometimes people seem to be listening but you find out later they weren't at all................................... Or they didn't know what you wanted them to listen to... A friend of mine committed suicide and that's what she said. 'Nobody listens properly'.......

Oh Claire, that is so sad, but I know what you mean. really listening is a skill worth cultivating. It takes an effort to close out the disratctions around us and tune in to a friend in need, someone who needs a sounding board, not neccessarily answers. I know that sometimes I just want someone to hear me and not judge me.
