Mom was a full time homemaker and once or twice a year she would scrub the walls. She painted them in November to get ready for Christmas. I get an urge to scrub my walls...it passes quickly...
I was wondering, is it a thing of the past or are any of you doing it? And maybe I should go with the urge...

The only time I scrub my walls down is when I want to paint them.....which is not often.

Ha ha, Chick. I used to scrub walls, but soon got out of that habit. LOL Of course, they will be scrubbed when it's time to paint or when we move, whichever comes first. I do spot clean periodically to get rid of the greasy black marks the pets seem to leave in certain areas. I use an orange cleaner from Seventh Generation - it's non-toxic and does a fantastic job! I was amazed the first time I used it. Anyway, since we are still remodeling, scrubbing the walls is the last thing on the list.

I thought scrubbing walls only occured after children played with crayons! LOL!!

I've never really just had the urge to scrub for no reason. I have cleaned dirty places from hand prints, etc. but just spot cleaning.

We only scrub walls before painting, though I spot-clean as needed. We had to scrub down the walls when we cleaned out my brother's apartment. I tried that Mr Clean Eraser - it really does an amazing job getting those scuff marks off. Still haven't gotten around to using one here though - I'm like Jane, never get the urge to scrub for no reason...I'd rather be here at BWS.

Ah, scrub the walls? What? Isn't it enough to scrub the kitchen floor?

I painted with a texture paint all over the house. My house is old, and when I moved in the walls were all cracked. I did this three layers of different colors of paint and put it on like plaster. It has a nice effect and shows no dirt. I love it.

Oh honeeeeeeeeeeeey....let me tell ya. Every Spring, like clockwork, the Warden (Mom) lined all five of us girls up and we had to scrub the walls with some sort of cleaner (I think she was trying to a-fix-e-ate-us. Uh huh). Geeish...we had to do that right after we got out of school for the summer. First week. Then again before we started back in the fall. We had the cleanest house on the block.

You're kin to me, aren't you? Let me see your hands. Yep, just as I thought. A scrubber. Let it go hun...Don't cross over! Let it go!

I used to scrub my walls four times a year. I haven't done it for years now. I'd rather paint.

Remember defrosting the "icebox?" My mother was so anal about everything being spotless and I hated that chore!

Ooooh, I hated defrosting the icebox!!! Ugh! I remember when I first moved out on my own, I had to defrost the tiny freezer in my apartment fridge. I decided to speed up the process and use a knife to hack away at the ice...not good. I ended up cutting one of the freon lines and had to pay for repairs. Needless to say, when it was finally possible to buy my own, I bought a frost-free!
