I don't think, as a child, I would have had a problem with that. Isn't it all about love? As Celtic says, the woman should have a 'security blanket' as to where her children will be nurtured and loved if she should die. Then I, as a child, would be glad I'm alive, and that my Mom had decided to have me, no matter how old she is.

Many children are reared by their grandparents. If anything, they often get more attention and time there, then from many overstressed and overworked young parents.
