WOW,,,thanks so much for posting this link Mountain Ash! Those pictures are fascinating.

We have something similiar in a lake nearby; Two stone statues standing in the water waist high. Through the movement of water, they seem to be in constant motion.

EW
art that makes people interact is wonderful. So many people walk out to pose with the men.
The whole concept can be "read" in so many ways..
For me the Moon controlling the tides hiding the men then revealing them again...and there is nothing the men can do about this.
and all the time life goes on see the ship passing..how big reducing the man YET close up he is large life size between tides.
Powerful
what think you EW?

THE Antony Gormley statues on Crosby beach will be the venue for a drama with a difference.
‘Statues – Live on the Beach’ is an interactive performance written and acted by the Magic 7 drama group, which is made up of adults with learning disabilities, such as Downs Syndrome who attend day services run by Liverpool City Council.
The morality tale, which is being acted out using the Iron Men as a backdrop, is based around a person who becomes a statue because they are so full of bitterness, jealousy and hate.
The group have been together for three years and are funded by organisations including Merseyside Disability Federation, the Arts Council and Liverpool Culture Competion
-------------------------
Did you know these statues first lived in Norway. Were destined to travel to New York..
There was much debate over whether they should stay..in the river Mersey .
Debate about the art led to many opinions..Always a good thing..controvosy about art..lets the people learn more.

Mountain Ash, thanks for the link. These are really cool. Art imitates life and life interacts with art. The statues have become part of ongoing local folklore, from funny vacation pictures to the upcoming morality play. With their anthropomorphic realism, the statues represent what people need to see in them -- solitary men on the beach, vacation friends, or everyman/ no man.

I agree. The best art inspires and makes us think.
