Letter to Friends/Family

Letter to Friends/Family - 09/01/04 01:53 PM

Just a line to say I'm living
that I'm not among the dead
though I'm getting more forgetful
& mixed up in my head

I got used to my arthritis
to my dentures I'm resigned
I can manage my bifocals
but Lord I miss my mind !

For sometimes I can't remember
when I stand at the foot of the stairs
If I must go up for something
or have I just come down from there ????

And before the fridge so often
my poor mind is filled with doubt
have I just put food away
or have I come to take some out ????

And there are times when it is dark
with my nightcap on my head
I dont know if I'm retiring
or just getting out of bed ?????

So if it's my turn to write you
there's no need for getting sore
I may think that I have written
and don't want to be a bore

So remember that I love you
and wish that you were near
but now it's nearly mail time
so I must say Goodbye my dear

P.S.

Here I stand beside the mailbox
with a face so very red
instead of mailing you my letter
I have opened it instead [Eek!]

Lion, there are times I think I have ADD for the very reasons stated in that letter.

While on the way to the fridge, I realize the plants need watering, so I water the plants, and see that the laundry needs to be taken up. While taking the laundry up, the dog barks and I see that the mailman has come. I get the mail and see a few weeds have grown near the mailbox. I pull the weeds, walk them to the trash and throw the mail away while carrying the weeds to the refrigerator which is where I was going in the first place. [Eek!] [Big Grin]

but thats how we have those men of ours fooled -

they think we can do EVERYTHING and we're just trying to remember what we were DOING [Big Grin]

I love that, lionspaaw!!! It is soo true. I do have ADD and I am a divergent thinker not a convergent thinker, so I travel alot in my mind and in my daily activities!!! A lot of nothing gets done aaallll day long!!!

I can relate to that --

isn't it interesting how whats a "funny" to most people can be a life living experience to others ?

Lion,

I can relate to this one! Just yesterday I went to the frig to get something for dinner, and forgot what it was I was supposed to bring out.

Then, I tell myself to remember something, then forget!

Wonderful piece and so true!

Talk about duhhh moments...at least you all didn't go into a women's clinic full of women waiting to get mammograms and strike up a conversation with a woman and her HUBBY and ask him point blank, "so, whatcha here for?"

Brought down the house....

geeish.

he had brought his wife in for a mammogram...after that litle incident, and then getting Belinda the perky nurse (don't you just HATE perky when you ain't?), I wrote my article Mammograms, or The Jaws of Life...see? Even things like that can have a happy ending cause that's been my most popular one...must have been because that's the one everyone was stealing off my homepage!
