So here's my day so far:
I got up at 5:30 as usual. Made the coffee, fed the dogs, gave them fresh water for the day, drank my coffee. Had a limerick running through my head so turned on the computer, finished and posted the limerick. Decided I needed to eat breakfast, but dishes were piled up in the kitchen so loaded the dishwasher. Took the dirty kitchen towels into the laundry room and noticed the plants on the windowsill were a little droopy so watered them. Then I figured I'd better water the outside plants. Noticed there was dog poop to pick up, so I picked it up and put it in the bucket, which needed to be emptied. Took that out front to the garbage; while I was out there, I watered the plants in the front yard. Came in and took a shower. Went into the bedroom to get dressed and saw my peace lily was a little droopy - watered it. Opened the drapes in the bedroom; made the bed; got dressed. Oops, forgot to water the backyard plants. Watered them. More dog poop - no bag in the bucket. Went back inside to get a bag. Had to move the recycle bin, which is full, to get to the drawer where the bags are. Emptied the recycle bin. Went into the laundry room to get a new bag for it; laundry piled up so threw a load in the washer. Now it's 9am; I'm exhausted already; and hungry. There's still no bag in the poop bucket; no bag in the recycle bin; the dishwasher hasn't been started. Aargh!
So how's your day going??

I'm laughing at this because your day sounds so familiar. I believe I'm wearing it.
I get up and drag my big butt to the coffee machine...pray to the coffee God's that it will be quicker than usual, turn it on, turn around to the kitty cat that is screaming, "oh sure, it's all about youuuu" and feed her, turn around to the violet that needs watering, do that...go to the liter box, ewwwwwwwww, what the devil does she eat! Do that...return to the coffee pot, say another prayer...check emails, answer fan mail, both of them, return to the coffee pot. Pour the blessed liquid in a cup and stand there, daydreaming and drinking. Wake up. Look down at screaming cat who wants to be held. Hold cat. Drink...pet cat...drink. Put cat down. Drink.
Open back door and shout, "Morning world!" Drink. Close door.
Open back door and shout, "Miss Kitty, get your butt back in here." Close door.
Drink....

Yesterday I had a bored day too. I actually had tons to do, but couldn't get myself to do it. Sometimes I think we just might need those days to gather our thoughts and think about our lives. So yesterday I did some hard thinking. And today? I have more energy.
Walking the pool 17 times is great, chatty. That is so healthy. I do know what you mean about retirement sucks. I sort of get a glimplse of that life when on vacation. After two weeks I need a task, I need to work. How is your book coming along? Have you started yet?
Actually my life is sort of exciting today, because Hubby and I had a fight. He left the house, and I don't know if he will come back. How's that for an adrenelin kick? :-)

I totally believe we need days to gather our thoughts..to process the latest learning curve our lives have taken. and as for quarrels...within the family it can be cleansing to ruffel a few feathers just so folks know how the land lies..
getting the balance between the quiet days and days where we pursue interests and engage with others is healthy.. there are days when I manage to get that balance spot on and feel as a good friends says "in the zone" and other days when my batteries need charging..its then I am content to stay at home and garden and call it my at "home day"

Yup, chatty, you're right. He's back. We aren't talking, but I'm not breaking the silence. I'm enjoying it too much.
MA, Our feathers are still ruffled, maybe even standing on end...but I do agree, it could have something cleansing.
JJ, "life is the best gig in town"...I like that.
Chatty, I think looking for your new pup can be the most fun. It's sort of looking for a new home. Take your time, have fun looking, and compare.
